Most commonly known as D. R. B. Grant, Dudley Ransford Brandyee Grant started the Teenage Mothers Project out in Jamaica back in 1986.

Teenage pregnancy was a big problem at the time, particularly amongst poor young women in some of Jamaica's rural parishes, and Grant worked incredibly hard to try to turn that around.

Grant was an educator, who'd been taught at some of the finest schools in England and the US before returning to Jamaica to make use of all that he'd learned abroad.

The Teenage Mothers Project (TMP) was one of his biggest and most significant accomplishments. It was a huge help for these young mothers. The vast majority of them faced a difficult choice between raising their new baby or babies and going to school to get an education. The TMP gave them the opportunity to do both.

Launched by Grant alongside the University of the West Indies, with some financial support from the Netherlands' Bernard van Leer Foundation, these young mothers were given the chance to go to school and get that education whilst being given child care support, as well as counselling wherever necessary.

And if you'd like to learn a little more about Grant himself, you can read up on a few good biography summaries here:
