Greenhouse gases are chemical compounds usually made up of Carbon molecules that are released into theatmosphere and destroy the O Zone layer and contributing to global warming.  Example: Carbon Monoxide, Cardon Dioxide etc....Hexane, Butane etc etc etc by-products of fossil fuels production etc the gases given off from decomposing plastics. Etc .....the compounds overload the air that is made up of oxygen, nitrogen, and some water vapour and a tiny amount of Carbon Dioxide and the air gets saturated with carbon dioxide.  (Trees use this for photosynthesis and can make more oxygen and if there is so much deforestation also it cannot balance out the air.  However that is not all about how has happened with the world and its atmosphere.) and so the the excess carbon reacting with the ozone layer and breaks it.
