Using the equations of kinematics.

V^2 = Vo^2 + 2ax ( Vo^2, initial velocity, falls out of equation )

V^2 = 2ax

(24.9 m/s)^2 = 2(9.8 m/s^2)x

620.01/19.6 = x

31.6 m = x

======

V = Vo + at ( Vo drops out again )

24.9 m/s = (9.8 m/s^2)t

24.9/9.8 = t

2.54 s = t
