I think I have one for you!
I'm always thinking about random ideas for cool products, and today I was walking to a doctor's appointment and had to check something on my phone.
I was running a little late, so it was a inconvenient when I had to pull my phone out and respond to a message while I was walking to my destination. Typing out a reply to a message is almost impossible when you're walking!
Anyway, this got me thinking about technologies like Siri and voice commands, as well as Google Glass and the different gestures users need to perform to use it.
And I was thinking that neither solution seems to quite cut it...
Talking to Siri in public is kind of embarrassing. And if it's noisy around you, then it's also quite difficult.
I also tried out Google Glass, and the gestures needed to control it didn't work too smoothly, and you also look pretty strange performing them.
That's when it hit me... Tongue gestures!
If you could invent small pressure detection sensors that could be placed behind the teeth, and could pick up signals and deliver them to a device, then that could be a pretty cool way of controlling a device!
You wouldn't look silly communicating with your device. In fact, no-one would know you were flicking through photos or typing out a message with your tongue at all.
The fact that your tongue is well-hidden inside your mouth also makes entering pin numbers or passwords slightly more secure.
I'm sure there are plenty of hurdles to creating a product like this, but if you were able to create a viable plan for it, then I promise you have at least one backer on Kickstarter here!
