What does the letter “NP” mean on some packets of washing? And why is it important to the environment?

I assume it might mean " no phosphates. "

Eutrophication can take place in bodies of water fed by phosphates being dumped into them through agriculture and just plain washing powder run off in this case. Some organisms " bloom " and use up all the oxygen in the water and other organisms, fed by the phosphate,  leave detritus at a rate that fill in lakes and ponds well before their natural time.
