Salt can be found in every cell in our bodies. In a normal adult human there is a total of about 250 grammes.

Salt has 2 elements which are: Sodium & Chloride. Our tears contain Sodium Chloride (NaCl) which accounts for the salty taste.

Tears also contain a little bit of mucus, a lot of antibodies and plenty
of lysozyme, an antibacterial enzyme. These components protect, humidify,
and lubricate the eye surface so that it stays healthy and shiny.
