You can offer them a beverage and snacks. 🍰🍇🧀☕️ That can get you talking about food. Ask about favorite comfort food when it's cold, etc. Asking questions about simple things like these preferences aren't prying or overly personal.

I was just told someone was coming over and I'm terrible at starting conversation. What are some good conversation starters?
Ask them what they've been doing lately, and how have they been.
- What's your sign?
- Boxers or briefs?
- Ever have head lice?
- Do you shower with your bathing suit on?
- If a person owns a piece of land do they own it all the way down to the core of the earth?
- What do people in China call their good plates?
- If quizzes are quizzical, what are tests?
- Why isn't there a special name for the tops of your feet?
Antelopes, what's up with antelopes? Like who decided to name an animal after a fruit? I imagine someone eating a cantaloupe and seeing one in the wild in Africa for the first time and going yup.. That's antelope. Cantaloupe, antelope, cantaloupe, antelope,cantaloupe,antelope.
I just usually tell them about all the crazy mistakes I have made all week, and pretty well just make fun of myself, and that usually keeps the conversation going for hours!!! Always offer them a beverage and just put some type of snacks in a bowl and things will go just fine :)
I find asking people questions about themselves get people talking . People like talking about themselves. Although I find asking people questions about themselves works I rarely do it :/ ... Cos I'm too busy talking about ME ... ME ME ME ME ;p
