What does "assimiliation" mean to you?

Understanding and accepting the ways of a place you are new. It is not trying to make it more like the place you felt was so bad that you needed to flee.

I think so too, but I don't think it means you have to abandon your culture entirely. But you have to follow the laws of the country you're moving to.

No, you shouldn't, but you should not expect those around you to change there ways either. They didn't leave to get away. They live there because they like it.
