It is not possible to calculate this for you with the given information. Unfortunately, you are trying to convert to different types of measurements without proper data.

  • Milligrams are a measure of mass/ weight and teaspoons are a measure of volume.
In other words, you have to be able to convert the milligrams into a liquid in order to measure volume instead of mass/weight. This also leads to different items weighing differently. A half a teaspoon of a powder or a liquid is just that; a half a teaspoon.

When you use a powder you can weigh it on a scale to determine how many grams it weighs and find the milligrams with it. If you try to weigh a liquid it will not work the same way because a liquid is based on volume.

  • One method of conversion
A milligram is equivalent to 0.001 grams. Now there is one thing you can try to do to assess the answer, but this is based on a conversion of teaspoon to grams where there is water involved, i.e. 1 teaspoon = 5 ml = approx 5 grams of water. It means that if you have 0.5 teaspoons, you will have 2.5 g and from there you can call it 2.5 * 0.001= 2500 mg.

Keep in mind this is using water as part of the equation in order to turn the product of a teaspoon into a weight in grams of water, since you have to measure it as a liquid when there is a liquid.

If you use a powder as a measurement then it becomes simple to take the weight of the powder by placing it on a scale and finding out the answer. It is a lot easier to use a scale for a powder than try to do an equation to convert the teaspoons to milligrams.
