What Does Barley Look Like?

This is what one piece of barley looks like. Its is a brown/yellow colour with the actual grain sitting on a long thin stalk.

From the picture you can also see the grain which has come out of the barley.
Grain looks like small brown seeds, and many of them will come out of one barley stalk.

When the stalk is intact, all of the grain is held in place to the stalk, overlapping each other to form a long, thin bunch. 

Even thinner strands make the barley stalk even taller, giving an almost hairy effect.

A whole field of barley will look even more yellow, as the colour is concentrated. When you look at the field you would mostly only be able to see the top of the stalks, therefore the thin hair-like strands, making the plants look very soft.
