Triglycerides are a type of fat that is stored in the human body. In fact, they consist of three molecules of fatty acid that are bound to a molecule of glycerol, hence the name. Besides triglycerides, the body also has monoglycerides as well as diglycerides. However, the ones that cause the most problem are the triglycerides. Excess levels of triglycerides in the body can cause serious health problems, which is one reason they need to be controlled.

A natural way of controlling triglycerides in the body is to regulate our food habits such that we eat minimal amount of food products that are rich in or can cause increased triglyceride production in the body. Eating a diet of citrus fruits is a good way to keep a check on triglyceride levels. Another way is to reduce consumption of red meat, and any other substance that can cause increased production of fat in the body. Basically a regulated diet, along with plenty of exercise, is a great way of ensuring that your triglyceride levels are under control without resorting to medicines and other options.
