Alkali metals are those chemical elements which are present in the first group of periodic table. There are seven elements present in the first group of periodic table but hydrogen, the first element, is not a metal. Hydrogen is non-nonmetal. Other six elements of first group are metals. Alkali metals includes lithium, sodium, potassium, rubidium, caesium and francium. All the alkali metals have one valence electron. The number of valence electrons does not depends on the period number. In other words, the number of valence electrons does not change from up to down, but it changes from left to right. As all the alkali metals present in the same group, so they have same number of valence electrons that is 1. Moreover, period number tell the number of energy level in an atom or number of energy levels changes from up to down.

It depends. Take the number of the group(up and down) the alkali metal is in.That is the number of the valence electrons.

I know this is a bit late but if it isn't an ion then it will have 1 valence electron, witch is what makes it so reactive
