The substances which are involved in a chemical reaction to form new substances are known as reactants. The reactants of a chemical reaction may consists of two or more substances. The chemical substances which are produced as a result of chemical reaction of reactants, are known as products. Reactants of a chemical reaction are always located at the left side of chemical equation. The reactants that controls the amount of the product formed in a chemical reaction due to its smaller amount are known as limiting reactants. For example, in the formation of common salt, sodium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid are reactants.
