The Great Lakes are not "inland" lakes.  Inland means completely inside the borders of the US.  Some of the biggest lakes in the US are man-made (made by damming  river).  If you want the biggest natural lakes they are (in sq mi): Salt Lake-1700, Iliamna-1012, Okeechobee-730, Pontchartrain-631, Becharof-453
