A hypothesis does not have to be used in just a science experiment but you would use it a like a foundation for your research and actual experiment, it is your theory your guess of the outcome of the experiment it is not definite, and could at the end prove to be right

For a substitution of buttermilk, you can simply take a cup of milk preferably whole because of the fat content and mix in a little white vinegar about a tablespoon then let it sit for a few minutes until it becomes a little lumpy on top, you could also do this with lemon juice.
