The factors affecting the rate of diffusion in gasses are size, shape, concentration, charge, lipid solubility, and temperature.

Temperature: The higher the temperature the greater the velocity of the molecules and the more kinetic energy they gain. Therefore the rate of diffusion is higher at higher temperature.
Size of proteins that move in and out of the cell membrane: Larger, insoluble molecules diffuse more slowly into the membrane because of the phospholipid bilayer which has hydrophilic heads outside. They only allow water soluble substances in, that's why the membrane has got protein and ion channels.
