The Scottish economist Adam Smith, famous for his magnum opus "An Enquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of the Nations",published in 1776, is regarded as the father of Economics. Since during his time Economics was almost wholly concerned with Microeconomics, he is, therefore, more precisely the father of Microeconomics.
