I am of the idea that strikes hurt the economy of any country and a common man or one who works on daily wages are severely effected by these strikes. If there is a strike, then it should not be more than a day and should be free of bloodshed and destruction. What I am trying to say is whatever are the causes and consequences of any strike and lock-out,a common person has to bear the after -effects of these strikes.

In communist countries, strikes are banned, since they injure the fatherland by stopping production. The communist states are worker's paradise. In the early days of industrialization, capitalists exploited labor, underpaid Diem and dismissed them at their will and whim. To answer this Challenge, strikes and trade unionism were born. Today they have become a big stake, struggling against the whole community for their class gain. Public opinion does not support aggressive trade unionism and public opinion is the last court of appeal to decide in the end. Big empires and proud dictators have fallen, when public opinion turned against them.

When workers go on strike, some time proprietors declare a lockout, so that the workers get no salary. Once there was a strike by die employees of a factory. The management declared a lock-out that continued for two to three months. The workers wanted to get back to work, but there was a lock-out. The factory owners too were losing substantial amounts daily. Strikes and lockouts are both foolish. They should not be resorted to except as a last resort. Today they are the first resort. Also necessary settlement tribunals must ensure that justice is done to workers and employees.
