Squash plants have very large 'elephant ear' type leaves that grow up or out on long stalks depending on which way you train them to grow. Then they have a base section where the male and female flowers grow out from and where the squash itself grows. This is also where the leaves grow up from. The flowers are also very large and a pretty bright yellow/orange and in some varieties I've heard they are edible. They open in the morning for pollination and close up during the afternoon/night. There are many many different varieties and even vine type plants and the one I'm describing is a standard summer squash/zucchini plant, not a vine. Hope that helps!
