A force can do many things. It can make an object move. It can slow down or stop a moving object. It can also change the direction of moving objects. There are different types of forces. Two types of forces affect us all the time. These forces are gravity and friction.
If we throw something up, it comes down. Why doesn't it keep going up? This is because a force called gravity pulls every thing down. Gravity is the force by which things are attracted towards earth. We are able to stand on the ground because gravity pulls us down. If there was no gravity we would all be floating in air.

When we roll a ball on the ground it slows down and stops. This is because a force called friction acts on it. The ball will go further on a smooth surface than on a rough surface. This is because the force of friction is more on rough surface. It is less on smooth surface. We can walk on the ground because of friction. It stops us from slipping. Have you tried to walk on ice? Why is it difficult? Ice being very smooth, there is very little friction and you slip.

First of all forces are invisible. Gravity -When you jump it pulls you down which basically means gravity keeps you attached to the ground so you aren't floating.Air resistance- Pushes against things which are moving ( Like a parachute ) Upthrust - Keeps you on something like on the water so you don't drown/sink.
