Ganga Action Plan was launched by Government of India in April 1985 in order to reduce pollution load on river Ganga. It was launched with much fanfare, but it failed to decrease the pollution level in the river, after spending 901.71 crore rupees over a period of 15 years. So the end result was the loss of capital and loss of plan.
