Actually, lithium is usually given to people to treat bipolar disorder.  At the dosage required to treat bipolar, it's usually too much for the blood bank to accept.

Take a note of your medications and dosages, and ask the blood bank - but don't be surprised if they say no. 

And don't be down-hearted that you can't donate blood - there are so many ways you can still help the blood bank :)

Lithium is usually given to a person due to low levels, to bring them up to normal. Before donating, let them know any medications you are taking. You may be able to give
