Aluminum was discovered by hans christian orsted. Not whoever they said, look it up not that hard

In 1787, Antoine
  Laurent Lavoisier thought aluminum was an oxide of an undiscovered metal.
  However, a German chemist by the name of Friedrich Wohler is generally
  credited for the discovery in 1827 in New Berlin for having isolated the
  metal even though an impure form was prepared by Hans Oersted two years
  earlier. Wohler used potassium metal as the reducing agent then produced
  aluminum powder and small globules of the metal.

It is impossible to say when the metal was discovered because it is an ancient metal and it was discovered so long ago that no one can set an exact date. But in 1825 the idea of extracting the metal was developed by Hans Christian Orsted.

Ohh, and I did a project for school and that was one of the questions and I asked my teacher why the book that we got for the project doesnt tell me the date the metal was discovered and she explained that to me.
