Alps is one of the popular and highest range of mountains in Europe. The Average height of the Alps is around  7,700 feet. The highest mountain in the Alps range is Mont Blanc which is 4,808 Meter or 15,774 feet. You can find more about the alps at the link below:

Both question and answer leave something to be desired. A height measures from the Foot of something, including a mountain, and an average such measurement of several mountains could be anywhere from foot to pinnacle on some or all of those mountains. More typically mountain peaks will be measured in altitude above sea level (as in "4808" meters for Mt. Blanc) and, again, the average among a group (of, say, Alps peaks) could be anywhere on some or all of the group. (continued next comment)

So, actually, when we speak of the average altitude, say, of aa mountain range like the European Alps, we are actually referring to that peak of median altitude: The altitude of the peak in the middle, which is taller than half and shorter than the other half of all peaks in the group.
