The Skylab debris was found between Esperance and Rawalinna. United States government was fined 400 $ by the shire of Esperance for littering. It was a huge event with television channels covering it around the clock. The San Frasisco examiner had offered 10,000 $ for the first recovered fragment of the space station. A youth from Esperance scooped a few fragments and received a prize. The beauty pageant held in Australia had displayed fragments from the Skylab on the stage. There was merchandise based around the whole event and it became a tourist attraction overnight.
