Arterioles- Arterioles are small diameter blood vessels that extend and branch out from an artery and lead to capillaries. Arterioles have thin muscular walls, usually only one to two layers of smooth muscle. Just like arteries, arterioles carry blood away from the heart and out to the tissues of the body. In addition to this arterioles are very important in blood pressure regulation. Arterioles respond to a wide variety of chemical and electrical messages and are constantly changing size to speed up or slow down blood flow.
Venuoles- Venuoles branch from the veins, and are also linked to the capillaries. The Venuoles drain the deoxygenated blood from the capillaries and then carries the blood to the veins, where the veins then lead the blood back to the heart.
