Yes and no. Animals like the dodo bird were partially our fault because when people landed on the island that they lived on, we killed them and used them as a food source. But, the bird wasn't adapted very well as a result of the previous lack of any predators. So really, since the dodo did not have any fears of anything, it was easily killed. Other animals have gone extinct because of pollution but mainly because they are not adapted well enough for their environment. Remember that over the course of Earth's history many animals have gone extinct without any human impact.
