Est India Company noticed the flaws in Mughal empire system and attacked those flaws. They used the divide and rule policy and also used greed power to weaken the subcontinent system. Last Mughal emperor was already perceived as very lazy with no efficiency and East India Company made sure to get full advantage of that. One good thing that happened was, British rule made many inhuman traditions void like Burning ladies after their husband's death etc at that time and also contributed in democracy and establishing Political system there.
Bad effects include Hindu-Muslim fights that are there uptil now(In Mughal emperor such fights were not there).
