India is the largest country in SAARC both area, population and economy wise.
Right now, SAARC is not that much effective that it can come into competition with other associations. It is mainly because of not the best relations among SAARC countries and their overall preferences and policies are not same. SAARC programs exist in the areas of agriculture,
rural development, transportation and telecommunications, meteorology, health and population control, postal services, science and technology, culture and sports, women in development, drug trafficking and abuse, and terrorism. But because of distrust among members and lack of interest SAAC could never become effective.
Media stressed on India to play its role but then the reasons showed up, in failure of this association.
