The main purpose of the posterior vena cava, also known as the inferior vena cava is to carry out the deoxygenated blood from the lower part of the body and bring it to the heart in the right atrium. The vein is formed by the combination of the right and left iliac veins.
The inferior vena cava is a large vain that carries deoxygenated blood
I just had an complete abdomen ultrasound and it said that my inferior vena cava was enlarged. I am a 39 year old female that weighs only 114 lbs and in good health. I have had a problem with "vertigo" for the last three years. Also, stomach pain off and on. Just had a horrible flu for the last two weeks and was hospitalized due to being dehydrated. This is when they did the ultrasound. What does this mean?
