What Is Your Overall Opinion On The Community Of Policing As Opposed To Past Eras And Their Role In Society? What Aspects Of The Previous Eras Would Be Beneficial Today?

I believe that there is Total racial inequalities and disparities in law enforcement and the criminal justice system as a whole.  In the early 1800's the Southern states appointed neighborhood groups to go out on that groups designated day and designated area,  trying to catch slaves that were  off the plantations.  They were given permission and even encouraged to beat, whip, mame and kill any slaves that were found.
Interesting enough this was called "POLICING"  And also interesting enough these designated areas that they were assigned to "police" was called their "BEATS!!" A term that is still used today by law enforcement.
