We went to  camp. They tought us how to kayak and went white water rafting. I remember getting sick  on the food one day. The counselors made me stay in and i wanted to go out with the rest of the guys in my cabin.  What fun

OOOH! I went to YMCA day camp, and some freaky 9 year old literally tried to kill me. She was screaming, punching me, kicking me, destroying things, and she dug her nails really hard into my wrists, and my neck. And finally, she found a stapler and tried to staple my leg, which ended up like this: A stubborn girl holding a bloody stapler, me crying my eyes out, my leg covered with blood, and the adviser calling her parents. Once that happened, the counselors told me that she didn't have her nurse/aid with her that day, and had ADHD, the worst kind, and they gave me a bunch of free books. :0 weird, huh?

No, but we did go camping as when I was a kid. I loved it, we were on the beach.

Nah. I was born during the Great Depression and grew up during WWII and its aftermath. There wasn't money for things like camps or even holidays.

Doesn't sound like much but that was real money at the time. My first job was in 1952 and I earned $12.50 a week. Even when I got to a full adult wage in 1958 I only earned $34/week. (We were paid in LSD of course, but that's the dollar equivalent.0

Dozy...that is quite low...I remember my father earning $200 per month, working for Weyerhaeuser Timber Company, and that was around 1956...and W did not pay people well...but steady work.
Actually, that is my memory but...not always reliable...

The wages in Oz were very low, post war. They're much better now. My kids are earning money that I never aspired to.

Boy Scout Camp for a week on three different summers.  And hiked in, uphill in waist deeps now for a couple of miles for a winter camp.  Camp Pahatsi in the high Sierra Nevada.  Great fun!  The main lodge, a huge log building, burned some time ago and now the parcel is apparently for sale.
