I've worked in Saudi Arabia - and eaten with the locals - belching does appear to be the norm. I don't believe it is considered good manners though (as is sometimes portrayed in films) - Just not necessarily bad manners.

How did you talk to the local Saudis? --In Arabic?
My Q. Was roughly based on those frequently-shown HSBC adverts ["The World's Local Bank!] which purport to say that customs acceptable in one country may not be so acceptable in another culture, or may have an entirely different significance.
PS, I suppose flatulence can result in either belching, or farting.

Fortunately, most people I worked with and for spoke "good enough" English. The Egyptian and Lebanese techs that the Saudi's use (sorry, here comes a national stereotype - the Saudis prefer to "get people in" to do the work) all spoke English well also. I can't say that I remember much farting - but given the nature of the diet - there must have been. :)

Just Go To A Local  Bar.. Men Who Have Been Drinking Laugh. At Anything ..Broccoli And Beans Cause This.. As  Far As Country.  Depends On How Dignified Their Manners Are..What's Not Funny Here..  Could Be Hysterical In Another Country.. British Humor Is More Bawdry. Think Monty Python  Mr Bean Shows.
