In science, predict means a hypothesis or educated guess about the outcome or future of something. The experiment that you will design is done to test the prediction. once you develop a hypothesis and a prediction, you shouldn't change it, even if the results of your experiment show that you were wrong. In other words, as a scientist you are predicting ahead of time what the outcome will be once the experiment is performed. Most scientist's jot down there predictions before starting their experiment.
