How does DNA replicate itself?

Basically DNA has a double Helix shape. The double helix unwinds and unzips, leaving open rungs on the DNA ladder.  

Each strand, as it unzips, acts as a template for the next strand. Bases are matched to create the new partner rungs along the strands.
