The temporal lobe is a part of the brain that is present in the region of cerebral cortex. The basic function of the temporal lobe in the human brain is to serve as the center for processing audio signals. The primary auditor cortex and hippo-campus is located in it. It helps us in understanding sounds like speech and also gives meaning to what we see. The hippo-campus is responsible for the formation of long term memory so this is another function of the temporal lobe. So we can say that it is a region in the brain that contains parts that help us in giving meaning to sound, vision and retain things in the memory for the long term.
