Spores come from 3 primary sources: plants, fungi, and microorganisms, that are capable of development into new individual spores, either directly or subsequent to fusion with another spore. Therefore when you get certain types together as in certain types of mushrooms or mould, it grows or spreads.

They originated from outer space. They influence mankind to help technology grow to allow
transportation form one place to another. Or so I have heard.
