Earth is unique because it is the only planet in the Solar System which supports organic life.
It is unique in this way because of the distance to the sun and the constituents of the atmosphere. If the earth were any closer to the sun it would be too hot and all organic life would die. If it were any further away, it would be too cold and would not be able to support life.
The constituents of the atmosphere are vital to sustain life. The earth is unique in having oxygen in it's atmosphere at exactly the correct proportions to sustain organic life. There is also a very delicate balance needed to maintain this proportion which is based on the presence of plants which use carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and replace it with oxygen through photosynthesis.
The other very important thing that sets the earth apart as unique is the presence of water. Water is a unique chemical which has remarkable properties which enable organic life to continue.
