The main classification is into institutionalised and non- institutionalised (or uninstitutionalised.) Broadly, the first type is on some kind of organised trip. This could be a mass package holiday with a chartered plane, all inclusive hotel stay etc, or just someone who has booked a flight and fixed stay. The second type includes backpackers and anyone who just likes to wander around with no fixed destination or advance booking.
