Amines and amides are the two important groups of organic compounds containging the element nitrogen (N). In amines a hyderogen group has replaced one or more of the hydrogen atoms in ammonia. A primary amine is one in which hydrogen has bee displaced in NH3. In secondary amines two H atoms are displaced in a tertiary amines. All three hydrogen atoms are displaced. The prefixes di and tri all use to show the number of hydrogen atoms displaced in the ammonia molecule. Absence of a prefix means that only one hydrocarbon group is present e.g., ethylamine.    EDTA Ethylinediaminetertra acetic acid is widely used in medicine to trap metal poisons such as lead and calcium enabling them to be removed from the body. They are thus said to be chelating agents and are able to rap around the poisonous metal into a form which can be evacuated as quickly as possible, with the minimum risk to the person or victim chelating agent may be use in the following cases:    When radioactive substances are swallow.  In cases of inhalation of radioactive dust.  Amino acids contain both amino group and carboxyl group. They are amphoteric i.e. They can either act as acids or bases. They can link together to form very large molecule called proteins.
