Here are some characteristics that are seen in someone with a good speaking voice:
- The ability to project
When you are talking, if you really want people to listen, you need to be able to make sure that they can hear you: Loud and clear. If you don't enunciate your words properly, or you mutter instead of really communicating with your audience, your points will go unnoticed and you will be seen as a shy person with a lack of authority. You need to build up the confidence with your speaking if you feel that you act like this when speaking in public, so be confident in your content. If you are confident about what you are saying, this usually shows in your speech.
- The ability to connect
You need to get the attention of your audience. This means that you have to take the opportunity head on, making sure that you make eye contact and really engage yourself with your audience. You need to be to the point with your arguments and be completely riveting to watch when you are performing. After all, there is no point in speaking if nobody is going to listen to you.
- The ability to communicate
You need to be sure of your content before you actually attempt your speech. If you don't know what you're talking about, you will be distinctly more likely to stutter and mumble about irrelevant information, meaning that your audience will become bored.
