Why Does Iodine Stick To Finger Prints When Heated?

It does when solid, but to a much lesser extent (so very slowly).
When it is a gas, it is much more reactive, and it is possible to expose it to the entire surface area of the fingerprint residue. This means it reacts very quickly to give the characteristic iodine stain.
