The Skeleton provides the human body with much needed support. It provides us with legs to stand and a spine to stand in a upright position, if we did not have our skeleton we would have no support. So it helps us by giving us a natural position to stand up in and if we did not have our skeleton we would simply be crawling like a worm around the earth.

The skeleton provides a stable support for our body. It has to hold 84% of the body weight (the skeleton itself takes up 14%). The feet provide a stable foundation and the skull, shoulders and arms provide balance. The pelvis holds everything together. The vertebrae provides an upright position.
