Momentum is the product of the mass and velocity of an object. Linear momentum of a particle is frame dependant. The same object may have a certain amount of momentum in one frame of reference, but a different amount in another reference. Kinetic energy of an object is the extra energy which it possesses due to its motion. It is defined as the work needed to accelerate a body of a given mass from rest to its current velocity.
