Depends on if you do any process to the oil and water. Like heating it or cooling it. Or stirring it up into a emulsion.
The oil will float on the water because oil and water are insoluble with each other.
Just putting it into a glass it will separate as one is less dense then the other. Unless you pride some heat they will stay separate even during mixing the particles will just break up into smaller pieces and once they slow down each will join with like particles to form bigger ones
I agree because oil and water wont mix. Try adding blue food coloring, it makes look cool, kind of like the ocean or water. If I remember right we did that in grade school.
The oil will stay on top of the water and almost stay in little circles/clusters because there not compatible
