The first person to walk on the Moon was Neil Armstrong, followed by Buzz Aldrin. They were part of the crew that made up Apollo 11. The 3rd and final member of the crew was Michael Collins, who stayed aboard the Command Module orbiting the Moon  Armstrong and Aldrin went down and landed and then walked on the Moon's surface, on July 20, 1969
