The Kielder dam was built to form a large man-made reservoir, Kielder Reservoir. This dam is approximately 170 feet high and also a three quarter mile wide. This dam is located in the Kielder Water, NORTHUMBERLAND in North East England. The reason to built this very reservoir were it could bring more water efficient industrial processes, an alter in economic course away from industry and better management of water supply leakage. Tyne & Wear and Teesside are the chief conurbations served by the reservoir.

The lake falls under Northumbrian Water, and holds the capacity of nearly 200 billion litres of water. It is considered to be the largest reservoir in the United Kingdom in terms of capacity. Its shoreline is approximately 27½ mile. The two main attractions in this very place are Leaplish Waterside Park and Tower Knowe visitor centre and also the Kielder Village, Falstone and Stannersburn villages.
