In 1808 Sir Humphrey Davy discovered Calcium in England. Although the compounds of calcium like lime were prepared in the age of Romans in the first century and it was known as Calx, however, its identification as an element is credited to Sir Davy. In this discovery, calcium was isolated through the process of electrolysis of a mixture of lime and mercuric oxide (HgO).

It is written that by electrolyzing lime in mercury. Some scientist were working in a laboratory in the 1800's and that is how it was discovered.
