You can use a mix of bulbs, seeds and plants to get the results you desire.  Planting fall blooming bulbs now ensures their blooms in the later summer/early fall months.  Planting seeds for plants such as daisies, aster, cosmos and celosia ensure summer blooms.  Planting plants now, such as petunias, vinca, marigolds, roses and alyssum will give you blooms now and throughout the summer.  You're set!
