They are drowned by the water in a shocking way and are unable to certify themselves for breath as it is so deep the floods happen by to much water over flowing banks surrounding rivers (caused by rain) or there can just be to much rain.
Floods occur in areas called watersheds the amount of water builds up till as much as 85% and then releases in to the local area. People die as they are out and about after they have been told not to by the weather station and get drowned!

They get swooped away by the heavy waters so fast that they cant breathe or see because the flood is too fast to see or breathe.

Strong currents pull them under, they can't swim, or they are knocked unconscious
